Headbadge Installation

In this post you’ll learn how I remove and install headbadges. Let me preface this by saying that this is the method that has worked for me personally in the past! I’ve come across both double-sided 3M tape and epoxy as adhesives when removing headbadges; the 3M tape left no residue and the epoxy left a residue that I was able to chip off without damaging the paint on my bike. There may be others; if it’s an option you can contact your bike manufacturer about the type of adhesive they use.

How to remove current headbadge:

All you need to do this is a hair dryer, dental floss, and a little bit of patience. It does help to have an extra set of hands, but you can do it on your own!

  • Heat the headbadge on your bike with the hair dryer for at least 3 minutes.

  • After a couple minutes, take a length of dental floss and start to shimmy it behind the headbadge. You will probably have to do this several times as the floss snaps easily, but this is the best way to test the progress of the adhesive giving way.

  • Eventually the headbadge will start to give way and you should be able to peel it off, but don’t force it! Just keep that hairdryer on it until it peels away easily.

How to adhere new headbadge:

All Mystic Badge Co. headbadges arrive with 3M double sided tape already adhered to the back.

  • Peel protective sheet off tape

  • Firmly press headbadge onto your bike

  • That’s it!

The adhesive on the tape activates pretty quickly, so be certain about placement before you press it on!

Enjoy your new Mystic Badge Co. headbadge!

They are proven to make you feel stylish and fun both on and off your bike, sometimes even faster (but we’re still working on that data).
